Learn
It Here!
I've added
this page as a way to help you learn about the "latest" computer
"hubbub".
There has been a great deal of talk about Viruses lately. Obviously
viruses can be a HUGE problem, if allowed
to fester. No one cares about your computer more than you
do, so TAKE CARE OF IT, or call us!
#1) Install
an Anti-Virus program
There
are a number of them available from:
#2) Scan
your computer regularly.
Don't cancel
the scan just because you "need to work". If the scan keeps
conflicting with your work, then we can reschedule it to occur
when you don't normally work (like late at night). Then just
leave the computer on
when you're finished using it! The scans and updates will
run while you're not there, and you'll be protected properly.
#3) Update
your Operating System regularly.
Some
of these viruses are exploiting problems with the Operating
Systems. If you use Microsoft Windows, just go to
and follow their instructions.
Other Operating
Systems may also have security issues. A few of their websites
include:
Don't
Forward those Hoaxes!
A HOAX
is a trick someone is playing on you.
These "rumors"
talk about free money, bank account "updates", viruses,
sick kids, soldiers families, needy people, lottery numbers
and many other subjects that are too good to be true.
REMEMBER:
Just because "your best friend" sends you an email
talking about a one of these subjects, it doesn't mean it is
correct!
Don't just follow the instructions in the email blindly. Check
it out FIRST!
Below are a couple of links that can help you investigate! They
have lists of many of the known hoaxes.
You'll help
us all if you find one and tell "your friend" about
it. If
you aren't sure, send me an email and I'll check it out for you!
